Meaningful link text

When designing websites, it’s essential to pay careful attention to the links and buttons you include. Ensure that your link text clearly communicates the destination or purpose of the link to the user.

If the link is embedded within a larger body of text, the surrounding context should also help explain what the link will do or where it will lead. When using buttons alone, the text on the button should always clearly convey both the purpose and the target of the link.

What do you have to consider?

Link text

Link texts such as “Read more” or “click here” are not a good practice. Try to use “Read more about XY” or “Click here to find…”

Clear target

If surrounding text is present the above may not apply. Try to make clear what the link target is through the text context.

Used links

Please avoid using the same link text like “Click here” for two different links

ATTENTION! Use the “Check Links” Module inside TYPO3 to find and eliminate broken links very easy.
